1967
Henk Schavemaker set up his transport company in an old farmhouse on the road to Assendelft near Kerk and next to the "Wapen van Assendelft" (Assendelft Arms).
1982
Assendelft had become too small and, along with its 20-odd vehicles, the business was transferred to its current head office on Lijndenweg in Beverwijk, The Netherlands.
Beverwijk was the first choice because "Hoogovens" had become Schavemaker's biggest customer and the move meant that an even faster service could now be offered.
1985
Schavemaker introduced the "scrap metal container" concept at Hoogovens and the first lorries with a container removal system were supplied. This went on to develop into Schavemaker Containers.
1990
A 3-hectare plot of land was acquired for the transhipment hangars, the start of Schavemaker Logistics.
1992
Take-over of Lindenberg Transport of IJmuiden.
1993
Take-over of Kleinjan Transport of Rotterdam.
Take-over of Marvo Transport of Breda, which resulted in the Breda branch, which focuses on southern Europe.
1994
Together with Van Straaten of Hilversum, a convoy of 10 lorries travelled to Kiev for their client, AT&T.
1999
The purchase of a 1-hectare wharf plot at the De Pijp harbour in Beverwijk saw the start of intermodal transport.
2002
Purchase of the first section of a 3.5 hectare plot at the Beatrix Harbour in Maastricht. The plot is situated by the water and also has a rail connection on its doorstep.
2004
We opened our first foreign office this year: Schavemaker Poland Sp.z o.o. We purchased a 7.5 ha plot in Katy Wroclawskie, which is 15 km from the city of Wroclaw, right next to the A4 motorway. The first trucks were registered with Polish number plates.
2005
start of All-Weather Terminal in Maastricht (NL) (7,000 m²).
2005
This year, we opened an office at Schiphol to handle air cargo trucking, building and breaking down air freight pallets, and managing a warehouse for the customs authorities (1,300 m2).
2006
Schavemaker Slovakia s.r.o. was launched this year in Trnava, Slovakia.
Also, the long-awaited all-weather terminal was finally realised in Maastricht. With the help of a 45 tonne crane, boats can be loaded and unloaded in this covered 7,000 m2 terminal.
The first phase in Poland was completed with the delivery of a 4,000 m2 warehouse.
